Leeds United’s very own Neil Kilkenny is set to represent his county, Australia, in the up coming Olympics in Beijing.

The Leeds midfielder  is training with the Australia Olympic squad in preparation for thier two warm-up games against Chile later this week.

This however could mean Leeds could be without Kilkenny for the opening two games of the new League One season due his international duty.

Bradley Johnson is set to go and raring for the new season. So much in fact that he has decided to start he pre-season training extra early to keep him self at his prime.

“I’ve had my two weeks away, and I’m at the stage where I’m ready to get back into training.

“I’ve been working in south London with Jamie Lawrence and a few other players like Marvin Elliott and Jason Puncheon. It costs us to hire Jamie and to hire the facilities, but it’s worth the money. The training keeps you in shape and helps to warm you up for pre-season.”

The rest of the Leeds squad are due to begin their training programme at Thorp Arch on Friday the 4th as Gary’s side prepair for  the next season that awaits them.

Ex-Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd has ruled himself out of buying Leeds United.

It is being reported that Shepherd is now looking to buy Spanish team Real Mallorca following rumours that he was very interested in buying out Leeds united or investing heavily into the club.

“All I can say is we’re in discussions, We now live in Majorca most of the year and they have always been our second team.”

Leeds have been linked with up and coming Liverpool teenagers Krisztian Nemeth and Astrit Ajdarevicto come on loan next season with strengthen then force for the fight for promotion.

Gary McAllister, has said to have invited the pair to meet the team for pre-season training to let them get some fist team action.

Nemeth, a Striker , was called up last season to the Hungary international team after scoring an impresive nine goal for Liverpool’s reserves.

Ajdarevic, a Midfeild player, also has played on the big pitch before in the recent Under-17s Championship for Sweden.

Rumours are flying indicating that striker Jermaine Beckford may be considering a move away from Elland Road after not reaching promoting last season.

Barnsley is one of the possible clubs looking at beckford to improve thier strike force however with garry looking to stengthen his forward options it does not look look likely that he will willingly sell last seasons top scorer.

Midfielder Jonny Howson has put pen to paper with a new 3 year contract that will keep him at Leeds United until at least 2011. Also Included in the contract is a clause to extend his contract by a year if the club are promoted above league 1 to the Championship.

Gary McAllister gave his thoughts on the contract : “We’re all delighted. He’s a player who has come through the academy and is a local lad.

“He’s got an eye for goal and has a nice mix to his game.”

“He has a lot of potential and a lot of ammunition to develop his game and I’m pleased I’ve got the opportunity to help his development.”

young Howson made his debut in September 2006 during the Carling Cup in and has since scored a total five goals in his 46 caps.

Today saw Chairman Ken Bates met with manager Gary McAllister and technical director Gwyn Williams to lay down blueprints for next seasons team.

Bates told Yorkshire Radio: “It was a very important meeting. We sat down and reviewed once again every player on the books from the 17-year-olds to the 35-year-olds.

“We’re not naming names because we don’t want to alert other clubs as to what we are looking to do. We know who we want to bring to Elland Road and we also know whose contracts we want to improve and who we want to move on.”

Rumors flying around have suggested that Sheffield United’s Jamaican international Luton Shelton is a very possible target for next season.

Leeds boss Gary McAllister believes League One will be a much harder division next season as the standard of play increases.

With teams such as Leicester and Scunthorpe now around coupled with the poised teams who just missed out on promotion last season, it promisees to one of the most competitive seasons to date!

“So it won’t be kick and rush. It will be mostly teams who, whether they are coming down the way or up the way, will try to play football.”

Relegated Scunthorpe, one of the favorites to win the league along with united, are set to play Leeds in the first fixture of the season setting the standard.
